This might be disjointed and chaotic, but so is my brain. Work with me.
So, I've had my ups and down the past few months. Generally, when things get ugly I shut off and go through the motions of each day and I'm usually more organized because I focus on looking fine. It's an effective system in terms of emotional stability, but ineffective in terms of loving others. When each minute of my life is plotted out by a Five Star planner, it leaves no wiggle room to meet the needs of others and put another's agenda above mine. How selfish is that? Very. This came to a head yesterday when I ran around for twelve hours and talked to a total of five people between 8am and 8pm.
At Icthus last night, Samson spoke. What do I love about Samson? First of all, he's a neat person. Second, he talks about so many things that no matter who or where you are, you'll find some topic(s) that speaks to you personally. Let me try to explain what I realized last night: Christ meets people exactly where they are wants to use them for the perfect purpose of God. It's a purpose that only that individual, when surrendered to God, can fulfill. Nothing I do will make God's grace more or less applicable to me because I'm a mess no matter my actions. I'm a mess that accepts the forgiveness of God and acts out of the joy of that gift.
Thank ya, Lord, for loving humanity exactly where we are. I'm sorry I'm messy. Thanks for using me anyway. Take me out of my overly-planned habits and help me to accomplish my tasks each day to the rhythm of Your purpose. Teach me to love others like You do.
