Heal my heart and make it clean
Open up my eyes to the things unseen
Show me how to love like You have loved me
Break my heart from what breaks Yours
Everything I am for Your kingdom's cause
As i go from nothing to
Eternity
Hosanna in the highest
I heard this song for the first time at Urbana a couple weeks ago and it stopped me in my tracks.
God break my heart (and the heart of Your Church) for what breaks Yours: an unobserved need, the abandoned, or a hurting soul in need of Love.
God do not break my heart for what doesn't break Yours: lack of material goods, unknown future, or discomfort.
Let us be malleable to the calling of Christ.
Let the conversation between Lover and beloved be one filled with laughter, waiting, silence, direction, whatever. It's a conversation and should be treated as such.
Jesus be the Center, be the Focus, be the Drive. Amen.

It's funny that you remember the first time you heard this song cause I do to. I was at a retreat and I started crying hysterically when it got to "break my heart for what breaks yours." I love the idea of seeing people with "kingdom eyes." Being able to focus on how Jesus looks at people. Such a great goal. And I love your idea of do not break my heart for what does not break yours too.
You should probably keep me accountable :-) It's hard, but those days when I feel like I do it...such.good.days!
